1 Cor. 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one
body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
1 Cor. 12:18-20 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath
pleased him.
[19] And if they were all one member, where were the body? [20] But now are they many
members, yet but one body.
The Lord in I Corinthians and many other places compares the church to a body. There is a disease
that affects our bodies that is dreaded by everyone. It is called CANCER. I believe you and I can get
spiritual cancer as well and this can be just as destructive to our bodies and our lives as cancer is to
our physical bodies.
The LORD said in
Ephes. 4:27 Neither give place to the devil.
When the devil finds a place, just like cancer it can spread throughout the whole body. The cure is to
cut it out or render it dead.
What are these Spiritual Cancers that are so destructive and deadly?
NOTE : THE FIRST VERSES :
[29] Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use
of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
[30] And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Here is the lists of different cancers that destroy the body of Christ “the Church”
[31] Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from
you, with all malice:
BITTERNESS --A bitter taste; or rather a quality in things which excites a biting disagreeable
sensation in the tongue. In a figurative sense, grudge, hatred; or anger. Eph.4.
Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of
bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
WRATH - The effects of anger. Proverbs 27.
ANGER - A violent passion of the mind excited by a real or supposed injury; usually accompanied
with a propensity to take vengeance, or to obtain satisfaction from the offending party.
Col. 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication
out of your mouth.
CLAMOUR - To utter loud sounds, or outcries; to talk loud; to utter loud voices repeatedly; to
vociferate, as an individual; to utter loud voices, as a multitude; to complain; to make importunate
demands.
EVIL SPEAKING – Explains itself - EPH 4:29
Why is this so important? Just as cancer, it destroys, but worse yet, it grieves the Holy Spirit of God.
In every service that we attend at the house of God, there are people who are lost, backslidden, and
out of the will of God. If the Holy Spirit is grieved, He will not be able to do His great work of
conviction in their hearts as well as ours. They will leave out of our service in the same condition that
they came and who are we to say if they will ever have another opportunity to get things right with
God. This is much more serious than you and I believe it to be. May we not allow any spiritual cancer
to grow and hinder the Holy Spirit’s great work in our lives and the lives of others. May we Love
One Another as Jesus commands. Let us all do a Heart Checkup, for all these cancers begin in the
heart.
